Falling Down

Growing up a middle class family, I never felt I was missing anything. We always had Christmas presents. There was always food on the table. I could join sporting teams and given every opportunity the privileged 15% of people in the world get to experience.

Later in life, when I realized how privileged Americans were, I began to wonder what it must be like to be someone who wakes up to wonder if they would have food to eat, or where they might be sleeping. In our privileged culture we have the opportunity to experience such disparity by choice. That is, if a person over-extends themselves or entrepreneur experiences a venture collapse lifting oneself, or a family up from the bottom can be a traumatizing experience, but we still have the opportunity to do it again.

Anyone who’s trekked into the landscape of creating their own way, developing new ideas or companies, and mastering new ways of doing business will eventually encounter a roadblock, hit a wall, even experience complete destruction of well-thought-out plans. Every entrepreneur knows of the risks involved. It is often said, if you’re not ready to lose it all, you won’t have the strength to make it through. Those who’ve ever accomplished anything had to encounter pitfalls and failures. The failures, however, are not failures of self, but only lessons to direct the next step.

There are hundreds of examples. Here are a few you may or may not know:

~Soichiro Honda’s unique vision got him ostracized by the Japanese business community.

~R.H. Macy had a series of failed retail ventures throughout his early career.

~Colonel Harland David Sanders was fired from dozens of jobs before founding a fried chicken empire.

~Thomas Edison’s teachers told him he was “too stupid to learn anything”.

~After Harrison Ford’s first small movie role, an executive took him into his office and told him he’d never succeed in the movie business.

~Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, had his first book rejected by 27 different publishers.

~A young Henry Ford ruined his reputation with a couple of failed automobile businesses.

~While developing his vacuum, Sir James Dyson went through 5,126 failed prototypes and his savings over 15 years.

~J.K. Rowling was a single mom living off welfare when she began writing the first “Harry Potter” novel.

(Business Insider online 2016)

These pitfalls are part of the process. Through my recent encounter with failure, I discovered the truth of what I’ve spoke about as a teacher. If one has access to water, the battle is half  solved. Having access to water and exercising is the foundation for a healthy life. Food can be found. In Hawaii, you can find many wild edible plants that are healthy and medicinal. Maintaining a healthy mind through it all is what keeps you going. It means letting go of attachment and expectations. Maintaining physical and mental health really is the primary force for living well. From there, one can use the strength to create anew.

I see many people with lots of “things” who can barely move and seem so uncomfortable in their body. In this fundamental knowing, I see the stark contrast of how we’ve created living in this material world. People who are fit and at their natural body weight do not need to each so much. It is the nutrient density of the food that determines the quantity. Wise ones know this. I eat a simple dish of dark greens and find fullness and vibrancy. If we as a species moved into this simple wisdom all our problems would be solved, but gluttony and external gratification have become the teaching methods of the young, so much so that there is a generation of people who know nothing else. It is also these attachments that puts stress on the one attempting to lay it on the line and risk it all for a new life.

Those who’ve been stripped of external things either move into wisdom or panic at the loss, and fall victim of ego control. Drugs, alcohol, complaining, and blaming will only continue the experience. A strong person can say, thank God I have the ability to make new choices, and I will start with the choice to appreciate my body and my ability to learn.

Helen Keller is one of my inspirational mentors. One of her many quotes: “Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.”

So if you find yourself in a state of deconstruction, read the stories of those who’ve been through it. Keep your head up. You’re not alone. There is a lot of deconstruction happening these days throughout the world. Cry when you need to. Let it out, then lift yourself up. Pray regularly and look for the signs. Perform a ritual to shed unwanted energy. Burn some sage around you and your home. Love yourself. This too shall pass.

Share the love.

What does motocross have to do with it??

All I know is that when I was about ten years old I felt the excitement of speed beyond what my own two feet could go. With a little metal between my legs I could explore a new level of existence. Power, speed, altitude, free-falling and crashing were the new sensations.

Team moto burn

What I learned quickly was how the physics of my body and a small rocket worked. Once I understood the physics behind it and how to use inertia to turn ideas into matter the fun remained endless.

Team desert moto II

Thought into matter? Yes. Knowing the time vs speed ratio when traversing over dirt and rock at high-speed requires the ability to think about things before they happen. Knowing what I want to create, using the power, speed and terrain ahead of me, my body would automatically ignite the neuromuscular response to put the idea into form, like a high-speed stunt, jump or acrobatic.

All athletes know how to place the mind before matter. So if you ponder it, one can see how this can become the belief in all areas of life for the one who is in practice of such power.

In the process of traversing with great speed over rough terrain is the knowing that as I approach obstacles I must see it ahead and pick the best course of action at that moment. Then I follow through with the action as I continue to look AHEAD.  Seeing the obstacle ahead and focusing on it as it approaches rather than looking beyond it will always lead to the obstacle taking the power. In that lack of foresight comes the consequences of focusing on the problem rather than looking ahead and usually a crash or unsuitable experience of one kind or another.

Isn’t this everything in life? What we focus on approaches, takes over.

Stay in your foresight. Use your intuition to pick the line. WFO.

What is Mindfulness?

Today, more than ever, many are seeking methods to keep us feeling stable, balanced and aware of where we are going. Meditation is the answer – an ancient intelligence by which one can find that sense of peace and balance within. It is a method whereby one can feel the sense of completeness. In that sense of completeness comes a feeling of bliss and comfort. Meditation comes as a big challenge for many people. Sitting still, without thought, might seem like a simple thing to do, but when one is faced with silence, the mind with its prolonged state of thinking – days, weeks, years of thinking – wants to continue. The momentum can be so great that not thinking becomes nearly impossible, even painful.

Meditation is an exercise.  It is a method that needs constant practice to develop. Like learning a language, one  lesson will not make thee wise.  We say fifteen minutes twice a day is a common time span to begin training in meditation. There are many methods for learning meditation, but the paradox is that thinking about how to meditate defeats the purpose.

Mindfulness is a part of meditation, but more so, it is a process by which one can transition into the deeper aspects of meditation by becoming more focused in the moment. Mindfulness brings you into a state of intelligence because mindfulness is whereby the mind is full of only the current physical undertaking. Think of it like drinking a glass of lemonade. The experience will be of drinking lemonade. If you were to add cranberry juice, oatmeal, beer and french fries, it would become so convoluted that the focus becomes thwarted. There is confusion. This is how many people run their minds on a day to day basis. The body may be on a task, but the mind is elsewhere. This is the most applicative understanding of what mindfulness is.

Mindfulness is being focused on “what is” in this moment. This is not to be confused with how we create ourselves through vision. We say circumstances don’t matter, but rather the state of mind matters. The mind creates the matter. One can be frustrated about a circumstance with all kinds of fruitless or impractical thoughts, or instead, find joyful feelings that will guide to more joyful experiences regardless of the current circumstance.

This does not conflict with mindfulness. Mindfulness is knowing what you are doing – be it making a cup of coffee, sitting in the park, or sitting in jail.  Mindfulness brings a sense of commitment to the moment.  It is to know what you are doing, or about to do, and do it with full intent. It does not mean you cannot do two things at once. It simply means to understand what it is you are choosing to do. This in itself can help lead you towards meditation.

A mindful person can be quite pleasant to be around because mindfulness brings a sense of peace and bliss. Knowing who you are and owning what you choose in the moment with a state of commitment breeds confidence and honor.

How to practice mindfulness?  Here are a few exercises:

  1. Get yourself a grape, raisin or slice of apple. Spend five minutes eating it. Savour it. Narrate it. Mindful eating is the best way to be sure you are chewing your food enough and can even be combined with healing visualization of the food providing health and vitality to the body.
  2. In the temple, we learn walking meditation. Spend one hour walking. Feel exactly how your foot is placed on the earth. Do this barefoot if you can. Narrate out loud to yourself while walking: right foot, step, left foot, step, right foot, step, left foot, step. Allow each step 5-10 seconds. Do it.
  3.  There are many ways to apply mindfulness exercise. Come up with some of your own.

When mindfulness is present, truth exists. See if you can find it.

Live and Let Die

My natural healing mentors are Dr. Christopher and Dr. Schulze. These men have a long history of healing every disease in their clinics. My love and I follow their methods for our own lives and share their knowledge with others in need.

Recently, we have been in contact with someone in need of healing from a major disease. From the onset of meeting this person, it was clear they were battling emotional turmoil which kept them from healing. Dr. Schulze says, “We would never take anyone into our clinic until they first admit they caused the illness, and are willing to deal with the emotional issue around why they caused the disease.”

Yoga teaches truth – the truth of who we are in every moment through the process of one pointed focus and meditation. In meditation, we can see clearly. When we begin to see clearly, we can take correct action for our lives. This person suffering from disease has obvious emotional issues, and is unaware of its relationship to their dis-ease. They are bouncing from one healing fad to another, not facing core methods proven to heal. Why? Often because dealing with the truth is too difficult. Even those “trying” to heal naturally look for a quick fix. Through this experience, I have come to know what the expression “battling disease” refers to.  It is like fighting to get your way, while avoiding the rules of the game.

What is interesting is that this person has created an avoidance energy around them to attract others who are emotionally unstable, co-dependent, even harmful. My love and I, full of experience, wisdom and compassion have been avoided. We see this, and still hold the perfect vision of their good health, feeding the light within them to help attract an awakening. For what we focus on, grows. As a healing team, we intuitively observe one’s presence, evaluate, and send light to those in need.

We support whatever path another chooses. We prefer not to feed one’s weakness, instead we like to uplift. One must be ready to do the work and commit to whatever it takes, and be diligent in order to change the current reality. Live and let die. Let go of current perceptions if you seek a new reality; this in itself is a form of death which produces new life, like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly.

Blessings on your path. Believe in mother nature. You are loved. You are love. The love that created you will always sustain you. Love thyself, heal thyself.

Matriarchal Control, Women and Feminism

There was a time, I am told, when we thrived in harmony as a Matriarchal society.  Men were simply around for labor and reproduction… and a little fun, I’m sure.

But this has been long forgotten with generations of destruction to the feminine power, burning of witches and books etc. The takeover of the Patriarchal with its overblown ego attachment to fear through the ages, has nearly destroyed our existence.

In the 70’s, there was the visual outpouring of what had been years of repression from women worldwide. Women were taking charge and kicking ass, opening doors, and re-patterning societal views. It became known as the feminist movement or “feminism.”

ism

ˈizəm/

noun  informal derogatory

noun: ism; plural noun: isms

  1. a distinctive practice, system, or philosophy, typically a political ideology or an artistic movement.

This movement was powerful from it’s physical standpoint. In this movement women had to speak the language of men and act like men in order to be heard, and at the same time fostering a bit of hatred towards men. This in turn put “femininity” in the background for decades. Women were becoming more like men with aggressive behavior which is confusing for the feminine energy. Women were adopting the masculine role in society. The movement brought more equality for women but was a little twisted in some ways. Some say it was a ploy for men to stay in power by de-feminizing women further.

I don’t know any men who prefer a woman to be like a man.  Heterosexual men naturally know their innate tendencies to lose control when a woman squares with her femininity.  So the idea of feminism, though it allowed women to be heard, disintegrated femininity. It seemed necessary to crack some heads and make a clear statement of power, but disintegrated feminine power.

In this New Age of thought about humanity’s existence being in an evolutionary phase, we have gathered by the millions in groups all across the planet to call forth the feminine power to heal. Not the feminist power, but the feminine power.

We are learning to release destructive habits and in turn learn new ways to live and new behaviors to adopt. We are beginning to harmonize heart and mind/body. We seek love for the heart of humankind with the body of Mother Earth. Mother Earth is our life giver. She sustains us and protects us. If we live in harmony with all life on earth, then we can live in abundance, joy and bliss.

The shift is to let go of the fearful and destructive behaviors of the masculine energy. The masculine doesn’t understand how to trust in life. So its fear creates behaviors to protect itself. Fear feels threatened, feels the need to get ahead of the others, to stock-up, and so on. This behavior then leads to more fear that others will take from them, hence the idea of protection, guns, borders, insurance plans, and so on. The never- ending cycle of fear has humanity in a tailspin. Humans have been trying to fix the problem with the same mind that created the problems. This is a behavior in self destruction.

The movie, Avatar, provides a glimpse into the broader horizon for humanity to exist beyond the fear-based power of the Patriarchal society. Today, there are leaders among us whom are living examples of this lifestyle. If men let go of the reigns and release themselves into roles which support women, we can really shift.  Think about it logically (from a man’s brain). Women get to run the show, grandma and grandpa run the kids, and man runs the tools, goes out to work and comes home to procreate and have some fun with his toys.  Isn’t that what men have been wanting anyway?

I believe that it was the  extraction of men from the supportive roles into leadership roles which caused such problems. Men are not equipped for this an in turn use force like a child, afraid and confused.

The biggest challenge is to remove men from power who are not balanced in their understanding and harmony of the feminine. Men are powerful in their creations, but when the physical creation process becomes the only thing that matters, we lose our balance in humanitarian affairs.  Humanity has suffered the fate of this behavior.

We need the strong feminine…but have enough women healed themselves to step into these roles? This is the weak link. There have been few women who embrace the truth of the feminine without clinging to the old man/woman roles or continuing to be whimpering  victims. Real women do exist and more and more are stepping up as candidates for leadership. The strong ones know who they are and with of sense of emerging as an introvert, these women are revealing themselves. It is our responsibility as a society to recognize these strengths and nurture them. The good thing for humanity is that the new generations are becoming more androgynous and this in itself will support our greatest evolution in history, if we survive long enough for our children to grow.

Men……get back to the playground and let the teachers, Curanderas, Kahunas and Shaman lay the guidelines for our future existence.  We must look at this like a person who became addicted to a bad drug. Once the addict comes to the realization of imminent death if it continues, the addiction must stop, immediately, cold turkey. We are at that critical point. We must all stop the way we are living, now. Everyone must adopt a new concept. Though this is nearly impossible given the current brain power of most humans, leaders and super humans must set the guidelines so the masses can follow. (The masses are just a large bulk of energy which can be guided.) If the masses wish to die so be it. If humanity wishes to continue, we must adopt new thoughts about life, the thoughts of wisdom which we’ve forgotten.  Children, take control. Parents, nurture new thought in your children.  Let’s develop new behaviors for humanity. Hell, I am happy to let the feminine lead the way. Maybe now we can all feel safe in the arms of the great mother.

For a personal moment toward devotion to change follow this beautiful healing ceremony.

Hope to see you another day.

Physical Healing: Part I

This is part one of my blog for healing disease.
Let me start by saying: It’s not that eating bad will kill you in an instant. It’s that years of poor eating behaviors will decrease the body’s effectiveness in fighting disease. It happens slow then shows up in a big way.  The appearance of a disease puts  most people on the defense and want a quick fix to rid it from the body.  But for true healing the disease must be deconstructed and evaluated if one wants to find a harmony within their body.

With my condition, months of autoimmune issues, digestive problems, pain and inflammation led me to realize there was a serious problem within my gut. In the early stages there was a strange pain and bulge I would feel in my gut along my ascending colon and getting more prominent. There was a constant discomfort and nothing I was doing helped in any significant manner. I got relief with juice fasting, but then it came back. Stress would make it worse. It became obvious I was missing something that would support my gut and correct the issue.  It was time to get serious about it before it was too late.

At the time I did not have medical insurance nor the money to go to a doctor. Besides, I knew what the path of the medical model would entail and I didn’t want to go down that path. It was less than a month before we were scheduled to leave for Mexico and I had to get some insight to this.

My fears were getting to me. It seemed everywhere I looked was a story about cancer. I would overhear conversations about colon cancer. My  symptoms were worsening, whether it was from fear or from the actual issue getting worse. I was now constipated and my digestion was poor. Belching and flatulence became a regular symptom after eating. I didn’t feel good. Some suggested  a hernia while others shared stories of much worse probabilities.  One such story was of a former student who only had minor constipation before passing away two months later from colon cancer.  Colon inflammation is a sign of colon cancer. This distressed me.

Soon after these troubling stories, there was an even more prominent pain under my rib that wouldn’t go away, so I decided to stop into urgent care for a look. I wanted to know so I could make a decision about our trip. The doctor diagnosed it to be gallstones and suggested I get my gallbladder removed. Okay that seemed logical, but the lack of digestion and elimination was another issue. Surgery was not an option. I knew my body would heal itself. I just needed to give it what it needed to heal.

It was then the friends at Miller Wellness Clinic in Agoura California,  introduced me to The Amazing Liver Gallbladder Flush, a book and a method for cleansing the liver and gallbladder of stones by Andreas Moritz.  I read the book and spent time in research. My partner and I decided to start the liver flush together. After the week of cleansing I immediately felt better but my other gut issues were worsening. I received a treatment of Quantum Reflex Therapy to discover imbalances in the energetic field of my organ systems.  I was diagnosed with lower intestinal parasites. I then scheduled an appointment with a colon hydrotherapist who found it difficult to insert the probe due to inflammation of the colon. It seemed I was dealing with parasites, liver/gallbladder stones and an inflamed colon. From what I knew, this was going to be a serious process of healing. After reading several books on these issues and knowing how the natural process of healing works,  I realized I had been unconsciously abusing my gut for a long time and had to face it.

Since I was a young boy my family over-fed me. I learned to eat too much too fast. I became overweight. Then as a teen I decided to lose the weight but found it difficult to lose the eating patterns. This led to bulimia.   This lasted through my twenties until I simply realized it was not a healthy thing to do. But still the habit of eating till full, eating too fast and eating too late stayed with me. I slowly learned to control it and not eat to be stuffed but years of abuse already damaged my system. these behaviors are the primary factors that destroy the gut, the liver and the colon and feeds bad gut flora thus allowing parasites to flourish.

After 40 years of this behavior it was time for a wake up call. It was time to change or continue to be sick and die from abuse. Everything happens for a reason and I know I asked for this lesson. As a yoga teacher and vegetarian I was conscious of the quality of the food I ate and practiced organ strengthening exercises but the lingering behaviors around eating needed to change. I was at a point in my yoga practice where I knew there was an element I was missing. An element of purity that was keeping me from the mindset and the body that I wanted to achieve. So this gut disease was my chance to address this piece of my behavior.

After much meditation, prayers and reading I let myself feel the shame and the fears that were associated with my habits. I went deep into it and forgave myself. I realized this was what I asked for and I was willing to cleanse every part of me associated with this disease.

I had several issues to deal with including the probability of a tumor.
Three weeks later we left for Mexico. At this time I had almost completely stopped going to the bathroom. Traveling was not fun. Eating caused great discomfort and moving around in general was miserable. We were on along-term house sitting gig in the Caribbean which is why I thought it was good to go. It would be a time of healing, or at least a good place to die. I discovered that the liver is the most efficient regenerating organ of the body and the most vital for our health controlling over 500 processes of the body. If it is plugged up, you are surely on your way to disease.

After our first liver flush I knew I was on the way to regeneration yet still discovering the even deeper pain of what I had done to myself. I began to lose weight quickly, which is another sign of disease. I could no longer go to the bathroom without having an enema. At this point I knew that if I believed in the power of the human body and spirit this was my chance to make it so.
So my body had all but shut down. It was time to begin treatment.

Next: The treatment.

The Energy of Oneness

Ten turtles were feeding in the waters below me off the reef. We were having a sunrise picnic. Such a gentle creature and fun to swim with. Look into their eyes and see the universal expression of the song. Look into the eyes of a goat, a turtle a chicken or the family dog and see the same expressions. The expressions we all know so well, expressions of love or fear.

turtle-town-07

Anyone who’s cared for an animal recognizes in their eyes the responses of their environment in its acute form. Each moment is a direct reflection of the song. Is the song love or fear? The eyes are universal.  Sometimes we have to refine our powers of observation to see clearly but they’re there.

happy-dog-02

The eyes of love are harmonious to the song of love, the feelings of joy. The eyes of fear are experiencing the vibrational energy of disharmony.

Harmony, comes from tuning into the song which feels like a melody, a vibration any human would enjoy. Since joy is what we wish to have in our lives, the more we practice creating joy the more it will be reflected to us. A harmonious song is easy to listen to whereas a disharmonious song or voice is almost painful to hear.

disharmonious sounds

To be in tune to the harmony is to discover the frequency which creates a feeling of perfection, a natural and welcoming vibration. “Perfection” itself is a misnomer. We are perfectly imperfect and life is perfect with both benevolent and malevolent behaviors. So what is perfection and is “harmony” only representative of good?   Good and bad are only judgments based on one’s belief system which are individually created so harmony has nothing to do with good or bad. It is irrelevant to the song.

When a beautiful song is played be it from a genre of metal or a symphony the order and method of the song brings forth a sense of perfection. Like a fractal managing the chaos of life’s ripple of energy. It is the path of least resistance, the natural path.

enjoying the soud

I don’t know why it works this way. There is a sacred harmony, notes played in a way that sings to the heart. It creates a joy we get to experience it. It is a method of being human which makes it worth the trip. The sweet song of harmony which provides joy in the human experience makes our days worth while. The harmony can be seen in the eyes of any woman or man, four-legged, winged or furry one. The harmony is the eyes of love, contentment and joy.

We live within this natural law, the pain/pleasure principle. All living creatures as small as the paramecium draw towards that which is pleasurable and draws away from that which is unpleasant.  We are in constant motion to make life more comfortable for us even within our own bodies.

connections

Though pain and pleasure are parts of the song, we get to choose which energy to mold our lives around. Whereas animals represent themselves in perfect truth moment to moment, humans have this unique ability to hide their truth and expressions to others. Those they relate with can choose to be in denial with them. In these experiences we feel the after-effects, the prolonged expression of our minds own prison, guilt and regret. We either learn from our experiences to develop a stronger path of truth or stay in denial and repeat patterns. We do not need to continue to experience war and oppression to know it is not desirable. We already have the programing to know what behaviors would be joyful just by reading the description.  It’s our choice to order from the menu, the experience of disharmony. We don’t have to.

woman-with-menu

Even if our current circumstance is painful, we can turn our eyes to the path of a better feeling, a more comfortable experience within and therefore a turn in events. True joy really is felt within. The outer experiences are like frosting on the cake, a tangible feeling as a result of our inner self.  When it feels exhilarating, we are in the place of respect and compassion for all humans within the song of life. This is where we see the possibility of our society in freedom and wellness, where the eyes of your fellow human are serene in the harmonious beauty of the song of ourselves. To find harmony we must first be in tune. Have compassion and allow for the bliss to be nurtured within all.  Decide in every moment if your actions have created harmony or resisted the natural flow and caused unexplained fear or pain.  Learn to speak less, listen more and be okay with keeping your opinion to yourself once and awhile. Share your heart through your eyes. “You must be the change you wish to see in the world” ~ Mahatma Ghandi
